Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber usage increases the amount of oxygen in your blood and heal your wounds faster. This treatment has been used for decades to treat medical conditions. Oxygen chambers allows your body to dissolve oxygen in your blood and bodily fluids. It also helps your body carry more oxygen throughout your organs. When more pressure is added in the chamber, oxygen gets delivered to wounds and injuries.

Why do you need Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber therapy?

Oxygen chambers help to increase the oxygen inflow in your body. Generally, tissues need lots of oxygen for your body to function and they need more when your tissues are injured.  Overall, oxygen chambers help you to feel better and treat certain injuries.

Treatment Options

There are two types of oxygen chambers: Monoplace chamber and Multiplace chambers. A Monoplace Chamber is a plastic tube. It’s designed for one person but can fit two comfortably. The tube is made of clear acrylic so that patients won’t feel confined. A Multiplace chamber is utilized for multiple people. By contrast, you will be putting on a mask that provides pure oxygen rather than lying down in a tube.

How do Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers help you?

Oxygen chambers can help treat the following conditions:

  • DCI (Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation)
  • Carbone Monoxide poisoning
  • Cyanide poisoning
  • Injuries
  • Burns
  • Soft tissue infections
  • Chronic wounds
  • Concussions

Procedure

The procedure lasts from 30 minutes to 2 hours. If it’s a monoplace chamber, you will lay down in the chamber and receive your treatment there. If it is a multiplace chamber, you will be sitting with others and receive your treatment through a mask. When the procedure begins, we will be ask you to relax and breathe normally. Then the chamber fills with pressurized oxygen and the pressure will start to intensify. Your lungs will receive 3 times more oxygen then you would receive breathing normally. During your treatment, you might feel uncomfortable in certain parts of your body because of the extreme pressure such as a feeling of fluid retention in your ears or sinuses. After your treatment, you may feel lightheaded and feel some mild symptoms, although they are temporary. The duration of the sessions varies for every patient, depending on their condition and how they feel after their treatment. One session usually takes around 2 hours and patients do 1-2 sessions/treatments a day for several weeks. Many factors influence how many sessions patients go through such as their specific medical condition.
